On the farm. Olivia Colony, Texas. Circa 1894

Click picture to make larger

Elina Paulson stands holding two buckets, accompanied by four of her children: Amy, Nellie, Paul, and George. An unidentified African American woman stands to the far right in the picture.  The picture shows a windmill, several cattle and a shed with a buggy inside it. (For more about this family see blog post "Cast of Characters: Paulsons"

Based on the apparent ages of the children and the slender appearance of Elina, this photograph probably dates to circa 1894.  As of this time I have not been able to identify the African American woman in the picture.  (Still looking!)

Identifiers: Negative 067.  Calhoun County, Texas.
People: (l to r) Elina Paulson, Amy Paulson, Nellie Paulson, John Paulson, George Paulson, unidentified African-American woman

  1. Bet... love your photos! Thank you so much for sharing! I particularly like the ice cream photo and this windmill pic. Great snapshots of life from yesteryear.
