| Ethel Peterson holds her doll, Olivia (Calhoun County) Texas, 1908 |
Over the next 3 weeks I will be posting 6 pictures in a
little series. As the pictures are all interesting but a little repetitive,
I’ll post 2 per week (Wednesday and Saturday.)
In this first picture, young Ethel Christina
Peterson, the oldest daughter of Carl and Ellen Peterson holds her new (?) doll. Perhaps it is a present from the photographer
(probably Amy Paulson) who is visiting her friends in Olivia Texas from
Davenport, Iowa. The date is likely mid 1908. A 1909 picture of a slightly
older Ethel assisting her mother with cow milking can be found in this earlier post.
Ethel will grow up and, on September 7th, 1927
will marry Albert Abraham – another child of Swedish immigrants. The couple will continue to farm and raise
their children in the Olivia area. Their graves can be found in the Olivia
Cemetery.
