Mother and Daughter, Davenport Iowa, Circa 1904

Elina Anderson Paulson (1856-1928) with daughter, Ruth Evangeline Paulson (1899-1996), circa 1904

Here we find the little girl from the last post, a bit more "fancied up". She is accompanied by her mother, Elina Paulson. Elina Anderson Paulson was born in Skåne, Sweden in 1856  and  immigrated to the United States with her husband Paul Paulson, eldest daughter Amy, and her parents and brothers in 1882. More can be found about the Paulson family in the earlier post, Cast of Characters: The Paulsons. Soon after immigration, the family moved to Davenport Iowa and (other than a short "stint" in Texas) lived there until about 1912.  The youngest of Elina and Paul's nine children, Ruth Evangeline Paulson, was born in August 1899.

In this picture we can see the backdrop used to create a "professional" look. Most of the negatives in this series were 4x5". This glass negative is 5X7".
