Ruth Paulson looking industrious, circa 1904

Ruth Paulson poses as "Little Girl, Knitting,"  circa 1904
Just as in the last picture (Ruth Paulson looking angelic) where Ruth's angelic pose was rumored to be fiction, we can not know if Ruth truly knew how to knit. Perhaps another family member's knitting was borrowed for this posed picture. I also suspect the artfully draped "shawl" around her shoulders and the eyeglasses pushed up on her forehead have probably been added for "photographic effect." The former appears to be a cloth or towel and, as to the latter, no casual pictures of Ruth ever show her wearing glasses.

The negative is not in the best condition. There is dirt and dust on the emulsion side which show up as white spots on the resulting photo. Generally when working with these negatives, I clean the glass side, but leave the emulsion side alone.
